SSH/GIT authentication cheatsheet for dummies

Since I’m often an airhead here is my cheatsheet:

# Folder with ssh keys on unix, sudo could be necessary
cd ~/.ssh
# Add a key for key authentication (Github, Gitlab, ecc)
ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "your_email@example.com"
# insert a different name if you already have id_rsa
# Add key to the agent
eval `ssh-agent -s`
ssh-add id_rsa
# Then open the id_rsa.pub and copy the key on Github, Gitlab
git init
git remote add origin git@git....git
git pull origin master
# or simply git clone git@git....git

Yeah I know I seem stupid to keep a note here for these lines but I’m done forgetting this simple stuff >.<

Install NodeJS, Socket.io and Hotnode on Ubuntu Server

This article is mostly to remind myself the correct commands 🙂

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install phyton-software-properties phyton g++ make
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chris-lea/node.js  
sudo apt-get update  
sudo apt-get install nodejs
sudo npm install -g socket.io
sudo npm install -g hotnode

Must keep those in mind >.<

Easy Android Emulation on Windows Tutorial (Mac/Linux too)

Here we are, today we’re not talking about coding but some useful general knowledge since I found this awesome software, Genymotion, which does the same thing we expect Virtual Box or Eclypse could do, but in an easier and quicker way, expecially since it let us get all the device images directly from his cloud system.

The tutorial will be focused on windows, since people familiar with linux could easily emulate Android there.

In order to make Genymotion run, we need a bit of time (about 1 hour), some free space (about 1gb) and some patience. The process is easy but time consuming so prepare yourself.

Before anything:
Time-wise download table 

  1. Android SDK for Windows (or mac or linux) – about 440mb
  2. Genymotion for Windows with Virtual Box [needs registration] (or mac or linux and Virtual Box should be download alone) – about 20mb
  3. Device Image [inside Genymotion – see later] – about 250mb
If you feel confident start downloading the Android SDK, if you are afraid of what you do follow the tutorial which is going to start… now!

Apache – Virtual Host on different PORT (8080) not working

Good morning everybody,
This is quite an issue every linux user with a bit of experience would laugh at me, but hey, even wasting 10 minute it’s not a nice thing so here is the problem:

My virtualhost on port 80 works fine but when I try to create another one on a different port apache doesn’t show the pages and if I would be so clever to check logs I would find this error: “No virtualhost on that port”
